Playoff Overtime Goals 4. Wolfpack's GM Word 1. New Commissioner, and WHL News Hello GM's of the Web Hockey League. I am Michael Hebert, the GM of the Chicoutimi Sparrows, and the new Commissioner of the WHL. After a hard first season, where the league encountered several problems, we are finally rolling again. The playoffs are going well, with some surprises, and we can almost see the crowning of the Cyber Cup Champions already. The first thing I had to do when I took charge of the league was to get the software. There wasn't any problem there. Then I had to enter the name and the numbers of every player in the league. I did the playoff teams first, so they could go on. I now have 21 out of 24 teams done, with the farm teams still to do. After, I had to contact the GM's to know if they were still there and still interested. This led to 3 GM changes so far, as I introduced Lori Steward (the first woman ever to be in the WHL) as the GM of the Moscow Blizzard. Also, Jason Kolsrud, one of the few participants in the now dead Electronic Hockey League, who quickly moved the Vancouver Drizzle to Des Moines and renamed the team the Dominators. We also welcomed back the former GM of the Oakville Raptors, who regained possession of his team. Some rumours that were heard in the last few days: Lori Steward might move the Blizzard from Moscow to Copenhagen, Denmark. According to the rumour, the team would be renamed the Norsemen... Also, it is said that the former GM of the Vancouver Voodoo, Darren Kinnaird, might come back to the WHL, if the current GM of the Voodoo decides to retire. He could keep the team in Vancouver; the Drizzle lost their bet of getting more points than the Voodoo in the season and already moved... Head Scout of the Chicoutimi Sparrows, Stuart Reyser, said to a journalist last week that the Sparrows had an eye on Saku Koivu for the entry draft. The Sparrows have the third pick overall... In the next weeks, the things that we need to do in the league are to go on with the playoffs, get an active, interested Board of Directors, decide the new rules that will apply next season, prepare the entry draft, have an Awards Ceremony, crown the Cyber Cup Champions. 2. Also note the performance of the Mallrats players, they scored 4 overtime goals in these playoffs, without Lemieux nor Lindros on the ice. This proves that the Mallrats have a very good team overall, not only a killing first line. 4.Wolfpack's GM Word I would just like to say that I am very proud of my team in the playoffs. We lead the league in penalty minutes for the season but my talk with them seemed to work. We were tied for the lowest PIM for a playoff game (13) and we are the 3rd lowest team in penalties in the playoffs so far if my memory serves me correctly. "No more goonin', Period!" They goon, they sit. You have to be discipline in the playoffs and the Wolfpack will be. So whoever we play, don't expect us to just hand you a free ticket to the penalty box.
