WHL News 2. Players Come Back From Retirement 3. Mustangs Players Train To Help The Team 4. Rookie Status 1. WHL News Robert Wysoglad, former GM of the Vancouver Voodoo, is returning to the WHL. Back in last January, Mr. Wysoglad bought the Voodoo from Darren Kinnaird, who could no longer manage the team. He lead the team to the playoffs, but they were stopped by the ?? in ?? round. During the off-season, he had to leave and decided to sell the team... which was bought by the previous owner Darren Kinnaird. But now Robert Wysoglad is back. He took control of the Houghton Icetasy, whose owner and GM Robert Friedmann mysteriously disappeared. There are strong rumours that the team will be moved, but it wasn't decided yet where. 2. Players Come Back From Retirement After announcing their retirement from the WHL a few weeks ago, 4 players announced this week that they were coming back. The Agents, who had just traded three of their draft picks to replace their retired players, welcomed back Bob Errey, Craig MacTavish and Pat Flatley. Dave Sprowl, GM of the Agents, was relieved to see these three players back in his team, even if he now has a lot of that kind of defensive forwards. Defenseman Mike Lalor also reported back to the Kalamazoo Kazoos. 3. Mustangs Players Train To Help The Team Two Players of the Milton Mustangs did something unique to help their team. After the League Offices announced that there would only be 6 rounds in the season 2 entry draft, Mustangs GM Brian Howe was very disappointed. He had acquired the Blizzard's (now Norsemen) 7th round draft pick, so he was losing 3 picks he was counting on to build a better team. He also feared several of his players would retire. To show their support to the efforts of their GM, Roman Hamrlik and Sergei Zholtok decided to help the team their own way, by getting better. They went through a very intensive training program, where they built up their playing skills. League scouts reported that Hamrlik now has better passing and checking skills, and Zholtok improved his shooting, checking and skating. 4. Rookie Status The League Officials have determined the number of games under which a player would be considered a rookie: 15 games. Any player coming from the entry draft, or who played under 15 games in his WHL career is considered a rookie. Created and written by Michael Hebert, Commissioner of the Web Hockey League.
