The Corinthians played without their captain Keith Primeau yesterday. Primeau was suspended but the league office after the game againts the Struer Norsemen where he deliberately tried to injure someone. But back to the game now, the Corinthians new first line, composed of Joe Nieuwendyk, Saku Koivu and Jeff Friesen played a good game, getting 6 points. Friesen scored twice, while Koivu obtained 2 assists and Nieuwendyk 1. Mats Sundin, apparently not disturbed at all by the fact that he was playing on the second line had 1 goal and 2 assists while his linemate Brett Hull scored twice. Here's what Sundin had to say after the game: " I don't think we can really speak of a first line and of a second line, the team has 2 very good offensive lines and my line had the same ice time Saku's had. Saku's will be one of the league's best someday, I played with him on the power play tonight and I think I could play very well with him. " Coach Marc Hebert had this to say about his new set of lines and the team's performance: " We're heading in the right direction. I made a lot of moves lately in order to youngen the team, and without weakening it too much, because I still believe in our chances for this season, but I'm also thinking about the future. Apparently, not only did it not weaken the team but it did better it. Philippe DeRouville has been playing great recently and a good part of the team's improved play is because of his consistent play. About the lines, we've had a lot of new players in the past few weeks, Koivu, Lowe, Lefebvre, Nedved, Gilchrist, Quintal, Witt, Martin and we're still trying trying to figure the right combination. But I can tell you the Sundin will be playing with Saku next game. If one looks at our defense, you can see that the 6 d-men that played game 37 were not with the team at the beginning of the season.
