The Dominators defeated the Voodoo 4-2. The Dominators jumped out early scoring three goals in the first period off of only six shots. Newly acquired Kevin Stevens led things off for the Dominators scoring at the 2:40 mark of the first period from a sweet pass from Mike Modano. About two and a half minutes later rookie Stephane Morin scored his first ever WHL goal. Jari Kurri assisted him on that goal. Then at 13:06 of the first Josef Beranek scored what turned out to be the game winner off of a feed from Bob Corkum. However the Voodoo did come back scoring late in the second and third periods to bring it within one goal but before the Voodoo could pull their goalie for the extra attacker Mike Modano put away a nice tic-tac-toe play that started with Renberg to rookie Bryan McCabe and the McCabe to Modano who put the puck in the net. Guy Hebert was just excellent in net stopping 31 of 33 shots for the win. "If things keep going like this I will be very happy. This is only preseason but I expect 110% from my guys every game. The way things stand now, at the start of the season we will be dressing five of our seven draft picks." said a very pleased Jason Kolsrud
