They beat the Breakers by a handy 6-1. The Breakers only goal came about half way through the first period on the powerplay. That would be the only goal the Breakers would get and after that the Dominators took over. Rookie Craig Fisher scored his first ever WHL goal just four minutes after the Breakers goal. From there Mike Modano and another rookie David Ling scored goals to pretty much out of hand but Jari Kurri must not have thought it was enough. As he scord one goal in the second and two in the third for the first hat trick of the year for the Dominators. Kurri was easily the first star of the game along with Fisher and goalie Mike Richter, who saved 28 of 29 shots. The rookies played a big part in this first game as all five rookies got there first points ever in the WHL. "Our rookies were a very important part in our first win and will be a very important part in our whole season. I am very pleased with our victory and we can hopefully have a very successfull season." said a happy GM and coach Jason Kolsrud.
